Opening Reception “They Cannot See the Glass” by Stella Chrone at Ruby Projects
They Cannot See the Glass
Stella Chrone
LaRucheHTX / RUBY Projects
October 2-17 2026
A glass sculpture that is also a decades long civilization.
Chrone builds sealed glass worlds and turns them over to colonies of harvester ants as collaborators.
Inside the glass a society goes to work; unaware of the invisible walls around them.
The ants co-author complex architectures in a decades long durational performance.
A second analog-immersive room emulates the sensory experience of ants. Shrinking us down into their world.
Each sound, vibration, burst of air, and light cast across the room is dictated in real time based on software Chrone coded which translates the behavior of each ant as a data point in real time from a live video feed of the colony.
The exhibition will open the weekend of October 2nd with exhibition with Saturday and Sunday hours 12-4. Hours will continue by private appointment and with the artist, Wed-Saturday 11-5. Please contact meganolivia@rubyprojects.xyz for appointment availability.
