Towards Superintelligence, Alignment, and Safety
Join us at AISA's First Supper and learn about neural scaling laws, why we may build machines smarter than humans (in our lifetime), and how you can have a role in ensuring transformative AI benefits humanity. Over dinner and great company, we’ll introduce what programs AISA will be running this Spring—from technical and policy fellowships to reading groups and research opportunities.
This event is open to all Boston University students, faculty, and staff.
About AISA (/ˈaɪ.sə/):
AI Safety & Alignment (AISA) at Boston University is an organization focused on ensuring the development of advanced AI benefits everyone. We think that machine intelligence will have effects ranging from revolutionizing how our societies operate to enabling technological advancement our ancestors only could have dreamed of. At the same time, the companies at the forefront devote little attention to the safety of the systems they’re rapidly developing—systems that we are only beginning to understand. International tensions between the world’s superpowers will only serve to speed up this arms race.
Many people think that working towards these goals will take effort similar in scale to combating climate change, preventing nuclear war, or terraforming Mars. Universities seem to be an ideal ground to identify talented individuals open to devoting their career to this mission.
AISA is growing quickly with four different programs across our technical and policy tracks, and we are excited to invite you to come join us at First Supper to learn more about how you can get involved!
