Building the FEMM-XSPICE Simulator: Technical Architecture Meets Agentic Workflow
Jason Owens and Phillip Mobley of Resonance Group will share the development of FEMM-XSPICE, a FEM-circuit co-simulation tool being built to enable true transient circuit analysis of magnetic devices using KiCad’s NGSPICE/XSPICE engine coupled with David Meeker’s FEMM magnetic field solver.
The simulator is designed to model systems such as motors, generators, transformers, inductors, and other electromagnetic devices where circuit behavior and magnetic field behavior interact dynamically. Phillip will cover the software stack and technical architecture behind the simulator, while Jason will share practical insights on developing and using agentic workflows to accelerate complex engineering development, including model selection, tool harness design, memory architecture, prompting strategies, and interaction patterns for long-running development workflows.
Attendees will get a look at both the technical architecture of the simulator and the human-agent collaboration patterns that helped make it possible.
Bring your laptop. After the talk, we open the floor for Open Build.
