Lunch Seminar: Building a Fusion Machine
The physics of fusion is proven. The challenge now is engineering: building the machine reliably and affordably. Over lunch, Echo Wood, Pacific Fusion’s Demonstration System Integration Lead, will walk through our fusion machine and the teams who make it happen.
From engineering the pulsers themselves to engineering the diagnostics that measure the fusion plasma, our team includes engineers from nearly every field, and building a fusion machine will take many more.
Who should come
Undergraduates, graduate students, postdocs, faculty, and staff who want to learn more about the engineering behind a fusion machine. No fusion background needed.
About Pacific Fusion
We’re building a pulser-driven fusion system from modular, manufacturable parts. Our Demonstration System aims to reach net facility gain by 2030: more fusion energy out than all the energy stored to fire the machine, a milestone no one has achieved yet.
