Musical Chairs V2.0: The Game That Explains Carbon Markets. Come and Play!

​An interactive session where volunteers from the audience play musical chairs to learn how carbon markets work. After successfully running this event at SXSW Sydney 2025, it's back in a new and improved version.

​Through this game, you'll discover how emissions trading systems function, how markets can drive the transition to sustainability, and - most importantly - have loads of fun!

​Each chair represents a license to pollute. When the music stops, if you're left standing, you’ll need to find a cleaner way to stay in the game. As the number of chairs decreases, it becomes more challenging/ But, there are alternatives to keep you in play. By participating, you’ll gain hands-on insight into how carbon markets drive the energy transition, how emissions trading schemes work, and how they push industries towards decarbonising.

​Expect a mix of competition and collaboration, all while learning how to accelerate decarbonisation. A fun, engaging, and educational experience that inspires action!
