About Event

Join the UCL AI Safety Initiative for an evening with three people working on AI from three different angles:

Callum McDougall, Interpretability researcher at Google DeepMind and founder of ARENA, the technical AI safety training programme. Previously on Anthropic's interpretability team.

Alexander Barry, Senior Researcher at Epoch AI, where he manages the Epoch Capabilities Index, and research collaborator with METR. He works on measuring how fast AI capabilities are really advancing.

Karen Kwok, Columnist at Reuters Breakingviews covering AI, technology and venture capital: the money, the race and the geopolitics behind frontier AI.

Format: short talks from each speaker, a moderated panel, then audience Q&A. Stay for questions on careers in AI safety.

🗓 Thursday 8 October 🕓 Doors and food 4:15pm, talks from 4:30pm, finishes 6:00pm 📍 Bloomsbury, exact venue sent to registered attendees

Free and open to all students, no background needed. Spaces are limited, so please register and cancel if you can't make it so we can release your spot.

The UCL AI Safety Initiative is a student group focused on reducing catastrophic risks from advanced AI.
