[Event Overview]

The Real Silicon Valley, Now

— A Field Report from a J-StarX Delegate

What is Silicon Valley really like? What kind of people and atmosphere surround the places where startups are born? On November 3 in Kanda, let's take a look at the real Silicon Valley through photos from the ground.

The speaker is Yu Iwase, a university student who stayed in Silicon Valley from August 23 to September 11, 2026 as a delegate of J-StarX, a program backed by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). Having studied at Stanford's d.school, Yu will share what they saw, built, and brought back to Japan, in their own words.

What I'll cover

- What is Silicon Valley? — There is no place officially named "Silicon Valley." Its geography and origins

- Visits to Stanford Robotics Center / StartX, UC Berkeley and Berkeley SkyDeck

- San Francisco culture, and the lessons I brought home

Recommended for

- Anyone interested in Silicon Valley or overseas startup ecosystems

- Students considering overseas programs such as J-StarX

- Anyone interested in design thinking or building things at hackathons

- Anyone interested in student entrepreneurship or healthcare × AI
