HDSR Cohort: n8n Workshop
HDSR Cohort Workshop: Build AI Agents & Automation Workflows with n8n
Private session for Harvard Data Science Review · Agentic AI intensive participants only.
You’ve been working through agentic strategy, workflow redesign, and the A.G.E.N.T. playbook. This workshop is where that thinking meets execution: you’ll build a real automation in n8n—the kind of durable, auditable orchestration layer that sits behind production-grade agentic systems, not a one-off chat demo.
When: Tuesday, 27 May 2026 · 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM (Dallas / CDT)
Format: Live, hands-on (Zoom link sent after RSVP)
Duration: 2 hours
Also helpful for other time zones:
11:00 AM – 1:00 PM New York · 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM Los Angeles · 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM London · 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM Lahore
Who this is for
This event is only for members of this course community. Whether you lead strategy, operations, product, or technology, you’ll get the most from it if you’ve been thinking about where agents and automation fit in real workflows—and you want a practical first build you can extend after class.
No deep coding background required. Curiosity and one real workflow from your day job are enough.
What you’ll learn
By the end of this session, you will be able to:
Place n8n in your agentic stack — how orchestration complements in-app agents and single-shot LLM use, and when to use workflows vs. open-ended chat.
Design a workflow with guardrails — triggers, validation, branching, error handling, and human-in-the-loop approval before anything important is written or sent.
Build a starter automation live — follow along to create an importable workflow: intake → structure/transform → optional AI step with controlled output → approval → action → logging.
Apply course concepts in practice — connect your build to A.G.E.N.T. (especially Engineer, Navigate, and Track): who owns the workflow, what gets audited, and what “done” looks like.
Leave with reusable assets — a workflow template, a short governance checklist, and a clear next step to adapt the pattern to your own audit or playbook.
What we’ll do together (agenda)
Why orchestration matters for agentic AI (strategy → execution bridge)
Live build #1: Reliable automation with validation and error paths
Live build #2: Adding an AI step safely (structured output + approval)
Small-group exercise: Map your workflow to one A.G.E.N.T. phase
Q&A and pointers for cohort follow-up in the course community
What to bring
A free n8n Cloud account (we’ll share setup steps before the event).
One real workflow from your work (5–10 steps is plenty)—e.g. intake, triage, reporting, approvals, or handoffs between tools.
Optional: notes from your AUDIT or ENGINEER playbook work so you can tailor the exercise.
You do not need Laravel, self-hosted servers, or paid API keys to participate in the core exercise.
About your host
Fakhar Khan — Founder & CEO, Soft Pyramid · Enterprise architect · n8n Ambassador · Certified Laravel Expert. Fakhar helps teams move from agentic AI prototypes to scalable, governable systems, with a focus on workflow automation, AI operations, and production guardrails. He’s in the same HDSR intensive and hosts this session for the cohort, not as a generic product demo.
After the workshop
You’ll be invited to share your workflow (screenshot or short description) in the course community and optional follow-up office hours. The goal isn’t to master every n8n node in two hours—it’s to ship one governed pattern you can grow into a pilot.
See you on 27 May.
