Reading at the Beach
A beach reading club with no assigned reading, no pressure, and no screens (unless it's a Kindle)!
I kept seeing so many people reading alone (including me!) at Kits Beach, and I thought: what if we read together? Same beach, just with a little bit of community. I also love telling people about what I'm reading, so this event is a bit self-serving.
We'll meet on the grass at Kits Beach. First hour: quiet reading side-by-side. Second hour: book chat and show & tell. Tell us your fav quote or why you love this author or how you found this book or anything else you want to share!
What to bring:
A book, Kindle, or audiobook (all forms are allowed)
A beach blanket or towel
Try to bring a big blanket/sheet so we can share with others – the more blankets, the more cozy seating for everyone
Schedule:
6:00 – 6:15pm | Settle in & find your spot on the grass
6:15 – 7:00pm | Silent beach reading (phone-free encouraged)
7:00 – 7:45pm | Book chat (small groups)
7:45 – 8:00pm | Wind down or keep reading into the sunset
Credit: This is based on the Bangkok Offline Reading Club. I went to one of their park reading events while I was in Bangkok and loved it, so I wanted to create a beach version here in Vancouver.
