Mapping the Futures of AI in the Cambridge Ecosystem

AI is already reshaping the conditions around the Cambridge ecosystem: how research translates, how companies scale, how clinical innovation moves, how capital flows and how talent develops.

The conversations about this are well underway. Researchers, founders, clinicians, investors, product leaders, policy voices and ecosystem partners are all forming views. But many of those views are developing in isolation.

This session is convened in support of Innovate Cambridge’s strategy to strengthen Cambridge as a high-impact innovation ecosystem.

The aim is practical: to surface what people across the ecosystem are already seeing, connect perspectives that rarely meet in the same room, and map what that tells us about where Cambridge may need to act next.

Capture it. Connect it. Direct it.

The session

This is a working session, not a conference. The value comes from the mix of people in the room, the perspectives they bring, and the quality of thinking between them.

Together, we will explore a central question: where does the Cambridge ecosystem think AI is going, where do we want it to go, and what do we want to avoid?

The participants

A strong participant is someone who thinks beyond their own organisation, speaks honestly about opportunity, risk and uncertainty, and contributes actively to a shared conversation.

Experience matters, but so does genuine engagement with the question. You should be able to bring informed insight into how AI is affecting your part of the ecosystem and where you think it is heading.

We are looking for a balanced group from across the Cambridge ecosystem, including research, health innovation, technology, investment, policy, skills, scale-up growth and ecosystem support.

The output

The output will be a short synthesis report, shared with all participants, covering shared themes, signals, tensions and emerging directions.

Individual contributions will not be attributed without permission.

About the facilitator

The session will be designed and facilitated by Scott Parker, a strategic design leader and facilitator working across design, innovation and AI.

Scott helps organisations unpack complex problems, make sense of what is emerging, and move from broad discussion to clearer direction. His work brings together strategic design, service design, ecosystem thinking and practical AI sense-making.

Registration and data

Because places are limited and the composition of the group matters, registration does not automatically confirm a place. Registrations will be reviewed to shape a balanced group from across the ecosystem.

Your registration details will be used to manage attendance for this session and to share the participant report with you afterwards.

As this session is being convened in support of Innovate Cambridge, registration details may be shared with Innovate Cambridge for event administration and follow-up related to this session.

We may also ask whether you are happy to be contacted about relevant future events, workshops, reports or related activity from Scott Parker and/or Innovate Cambridge. This will be optional, and you will be able to opt out.
