​💡 About Arif Janmohamed

​Before joining Lightspeed, Arif spent his early career as a chip designer and product manager at venture-backed startups like WebTV and Andes Networks, and later served as CTO at Sun Microsystems following an acquisition. Those experiences, and mentorship from the VCs who backed those companies set him on the path to venture capital.

​A University of Waterloo alum with an MBA from Wharton, Arif brings both deep technical roots and a founder-first approach to investing. Since joining Lightspeed in 2008, he’s helped six companies reach acquisition and one go public, focusing on cloud, datacenter, enterprise mobile, and SaaS.

​💡 About Alex Kolicich

​Before founding 8VC, Alex was a Partner at Formation 8 and previously worked alongside Peter Thiel as a Principal at Mithril Capital, where he helped lead investments in companies like AppDirect, C2FO, and Helion Energy.

​A University of Waterloo–trained engineer, Alex began his career as an early engineer and product advisor at Clarium, Palantir, and Google - where he contributed to Google Checkout and the launch of Street View. Today, Alex partners with ambitious founders transforming industries across AI, healthcare, and enterprise software, backing companies like Anduril, Addepar, Cognition, Qualia, Commure, and Orca Bio through 8VC.
