Staff Briefing: The Senate's Tech Competition Bills
Excessive concentration in the economy, and monopoly practices by dominant firms, are making life more expensive for everyday Americans. Big Tech is no exception. Anti-competitive behavior by giants in e-commerce, app stores, and digital advertising is raising prices for Americans that use online marketplaces and app stores, as well as the small businesses that rely on digital advertising to reach new customers. The Senate Judiciary Committee is considering three bills that would tackle these and other digital chokepoints: The American Innovation and Choice Online Act (AICOA), the Open App Markets Act (OAMA), and the Advertising Middlemen Endangering Rigorous Internet Competition Accountability (AMERICA) Act.
This briefing by Bull Moose Project and Public Knowledge will examine these bills and brief staff on everything they need to know as the Committee considers the legislation. Chick-Fil-A will be served.
