​Got an idea you want to explain better? Working on something and struggling to get other people to get it? This workshop is about turning what’s in your head into a pitch that makes sense.
​Join us at DCU Innovate Catalyst for a practical, hands-on workshop on building your pitch from the ground up.
​You don’t need a polished startup. You don’t need a finished deck. You don’t need to be “good at pitching.” Just bring an idea, project or problem you’re interested in working on.
​🎤 What’s happening?
​5:00–5:30 | Start with the elevator pitch
​Before you build slides, you need to be able to explain your idea simply.
​We’ll start by breaking your idea down into a short, clear elevator pitch: what’s the problem, what are you building, who is it for, and why should anyone care?
​5:30–6:30 | Build your five-minute pitch
​From there, we’ll turn that core story into a simple pitch deck.
​We’ll work through what belongs in a five-minute pitch, how to structure the story, what your slides actually need to communicate, and how to avoid cramming your deck with information nobody will remember.
​You’ll build as you go, with time to test your message, get feedback and improve it.
​6:30–7:00 | Practice, feedback & refine
​Try your pitch, get another set of eyes on your deck, sharpen the parts that aren’t landing and leave with a clear next version to work from.

​You’re a current DCU student working on an idea, project or early-stage venture and want to get better at explaining it.
​Whether you’re preparing for a competition, talking to potential customers, looking for collaborators or just trying to make your idea clearer, this workshop will give you a practical structure you can keep using.
​By the end, you should have the foundations of a clear elevator pitch and a five-minute pitch deck you can continue refining through Catalyst.
