About Event

Lossfunk Research Mixers are intimate, topic-first roundtables for people in Bengaluru with a real knack for research, whether they are researchers, engineers, writers, philosophers, artists, interdisciplinary thinkers, or independent tinkerers.

You Should Apply If

  • You have a strong research instinct, whether or not you hold a formal research role.

  • You enjoy going unusually deep into ideas across science, technology, philosophy, art, cognition, or culture.

  • You're actively exploring, building, reading, or investigating something you're excited to discuss.

  • You want a rigorous peer group, battle-test ideas, and meet unusually curious people from different disciplines who feel like they're in the same orbit.

*(We value demographically diverse spaces and strongly encourage women to apply.)

Discussion Topic on 11th July: World Models

World models have become one of the most overloaded terms in modern AI, spanning video generation, game simulators, robotics, prediction, and cognitive science. In this session, we’ll cut through the noise and build a clear shared picture of what world models are, why they matter, and what kinds exist today.

We’ll begin with a first-principles overview, then look at selected examples from AI, neuroscience, information theory, and control to develop a more intuitive understanding of these systems.

We’ll close with an interactive roundtable to exchange ideas, clarify open questions, explore current limitations, and connect with others thinking seriously about the future of world models.
