Horizon Scan: The Future of Engineering (& Engineers) in the age of AI
How is AI changing the toolkit for engineers to think through problems, design solutions, and bring them to life?
Join Michael Kohn, Founder of Agent Build Club and Innovation Adviser, for a free online talk exploring the evolving relationship between AI and engineering, the opportunities it presents, and the questions it raises for the future of the discipline.
This is the first talk in the University of Surrey's Innovation Accelerator series, run in partnership with Agent Build Club (ABC) and funded by Innovate UK. The programme brings together people from academia and industry to exchange knowledge, explore emerging applications of AI, and connect technical developments with real world challenges.
Why this matters:
As AI becomes more capable, it invites us to reconsider how engineering knowledge is developed, how people and intelligent systems work together, and how engineers build the skills and judgement needed to navigate an evolving landscape.
Understanding these changes requires a dialogue between the people developing AI, those applying it, and those preparing the next generation of engineers.
What you’ll leave with:
A broader perspective on the evolving relationship between AI and engineering
An introduction to the Innovation Accelerator and its role in connecting industry and academia
Opportunities to exchange knowledge, contribute ideas and collaborate through talks, hackathons and industry projects
