About Event

We are very happy to invite Berlin-based Japanese artist Yukiko Nagakura to lead this special workshop at P60. How can old clothes you never wear again live once more? Through Nawanai - a traditional Japanese rope-making technique. Your discarded clothes will be dismantled, twisted, and transformed into rope, giving them renewed value and meaning.

What to Bring

  1. Old clothes (we will cut them into pieces)

  2. Best fabrics: cotton or towel-like materials (T-shirts, shirts)

  3. All other materials will be provided by the artist. Note: • The workshop takes place sitting on the floor (not chairs) • You may be asked to remove shoes and socks

About the Artist

Yukiko Nagakura is a Berlin-based artist working across installation, video, sculpture, and photography. She holds an MA in Spatial Strategies from Weißensee School of Art Berlin (2017). Her practice explores the marginalization of women through research, writing, and collaborative projects. Since 2024, she has been developing “Nawanai; Weaving Project,” connecting people and communities through shared making and memory work. Recent exhibitions include: Galerie der Künstler*innen (Munich, 2024) Oyoun (Berlin, 2023 & 2024)
