ON THE EDGE OF LIGHT
An Exhibition Featuring the Work of Lynn Hoeft, David Welch, and Tachina Rudman-Young
ON THE EDGE OF LIGHT brings together two painters and a photographer whose work explores the transformative power of light, color, and atmosphere through three distinct artistic practices: expressive watercolor, vibrant abstract painting, and evocative pinhole photography.
Though their approaches differ, Lynn Hoeft, David Welch, and Tachina Rudman-Young each create work inspired by nature's ever-changing light—whether at sunrise, sunset, or beneath dramatic storm-filled skies. Their images invite viewers to slow down and experience the subtle moments when light reshapes our perception of the landscape.
Join us to experience three unique interpretations of the breathtaking beauty of Martha's Vineyard.
About the Artists
Lynn Hoeft
Master watercolorist Lynn Hoeft captivates viewers with her newly liberated, expressive approach to watercolor. Her luminous paintings flow effortlessly across the paper, capturing the movement and radiance of light as it dances across the landscape. Rich with spontaneity and emotion, her work evokes the fleeting beauty of nature's changing skies.
David Welch
Vineyard-based photographer David Welch creates ethereal images using pinhole camera techniques and extended exposure times. By bending light and stretching time, he transforms familiar landscapes into dreamlike visions that exist somewhere between memory and reality. His photographs possess a contemplative, almost spiritual quality, inviting viewers to experience the natural world with renewed wonder and stillness.
Tachina Rudman-Young
San Francisco–based painter Tachina Rudman-Young creates large-scale abstract paintings that celebrate the energy of color and light. Inspired by the shifting relationships between sea, sky, and atmosphere, her vibrant compositions evoke those fleeting moments when the horizon dissolves into luminous color. Her paintings invite viewers into immersive fields of joy, movement, and possibility.
