UAE Software Craftsmanship: Beyond the (AI) Happy Path
AI has made generating code cheap. Knowing it is correct is now the expensive part.
The challenge is AI coding tools are pushing more code into production, faster than any team can review it. Traditional testing was not built for this. Example-based tests only check what someone already imagined. Human code review does not scale with machine output, and tests written by the same model that wrote the code tend to share its blind spots, so they confirm its assumptions instead of challenging them.
Across the Gulf, some of the most ambitious things in the world are being built, whether the code comes from a human, an AI, or a hybrid of both. This evening is about what decides whether they hold up: how you defend the quality of your software development lifecycle and earn trust in what you ship.
What to expect
Practical talks from CTOs and Engineers proactively dealing with this problem today, and the chance to meet peers across the region to network and together bring focus onto ensuring that AI does not bring down the quality of our delivery. This is the first meet-up of its kind in the UAE, the start of something special and critically important to the world of software.

Brought to the UAE by Antithesis
Antithesis was founded by Will Wilson and Dave Scherer, engineers from the team behind FoundationDB, the famous distributed cloud database Snowflake relies on, and Apple acquired in 2015 to mainly support iCloud resiliency. At FoundationDB they pioneered deterministic simulation testing: the unique ability to run a whole system inside a simulated world where any failure can be injected and replayed exactly. That approach is a big part of why FoundationDB earned its reputation for resilience, and Antithesis has made it available to every software team. It runs your system inside a deterministic simulation, injects faults and unexpected conditions, and surfaces the unknown-unknown bugs that conventional testing misses, each one reproducible exactly, every time. Engineering teams at companies such as Jane Street, Netflix, MongoDB and Grafana Labs use Antithesis’ autonomous testing and verification technology to catch bugs before production, helping to protect and raise the bar on software quality in the era of AI, and enable engineers to spend more time building and less time in the weeds of testing.
