Cake Club X Pelah Kitchen
Welcome to: cake club - the (as far as we know)- only club where you spend an indulgent two hours decorating and eating cake.
This spring we'll be joined by the incredible Pelah Kitchen! We'll get Jenneh's hottest cake decorating tips before decorating our own 4in layered cakes, certain to satisfy your spring whimsy. We’ll then gather around our communal table to eat one of Pelah Kitchen's very own cakes, sip on bevvies, and befriend strangers.
Each guest will leave with a little more cake-decor know how, their uniquely decorated mini cake, their sweet tooth fully satisfied + hopefully a new friend <3 It will be sweet & creative & fun & communal and we can’t wait to decorate + dine with you.
Choose between decorating:
-Lemon butter cake, blueberry lavender jam, vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream
OR
- Espresso chocolate cake, dark chocolate Swiss meringue buttercream
Toppings include toooons of edible flowers
*Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate any allergies / dietary restrictions for this one!
!!Please note!! This is NOT a highly technical cake decorating workshop. The beauty of this event is all of the grunt work of baking, sourcing and clean up are done for you— you get to just show up, experiment, create, yap + eat cake! It's precious.
Meet your Cake Artist,
Jenneh Kaikai is the founder of Pelah Kitchen, an award-winning microbakery based in Bedstuy, Brooklyn. “Pelah,” meaning home in Mende, reflects Jenneh’s Sierra Leonean heritage and commitment to creating desserts that evoke comfort, belonging, and connection.
Her work is both visually striking and deeply intentional. As a self-taught baker and creative entrepreneur, Jenneh has grown Pelah Kitchen into more than a bakery. Through immersive events, bespoke catering, and hands-on cake decorating classes, she creates transformative experiences that encourage others to tap into their creativity while engaging with the beauty and depth of African culinary traditions.
What can I expect from a club at RecCreate?
We design all of our clubs at RecCreate to feel like going over to a friends apartment for a craft hang where they took care of grabbing all the materials and show you the basics before the music starts bumping! Our emphasis is on process, play and community building, with conversation prompts throughout.
Getting Here
The venue is a ~hidden~ art studio located at 20 Grand ave in brooklyn on the 6th floor of a commercial building! When you arrive, buzz #604, push to open and take the elevator up to 6 (push the elevator button until it turns red.!!) Take a right out of the elevator, and a left at the end of the hallway. The door will be the first one on your right.
Cancelation Policy
Unfortunately for this event tickets are non-refundable/exchange-able! Please double check your calendar. In the event you are no longer able to make it, you are welcome to give your ticket to a friend or swap it on our ticket swap board. Just tell them to use your name!

Though we do our best to keep all photography / video to a minimum, please note all guests who attend consent to being photographed and videoed which may be used for marketing or promotional purposes.
Age Restriction & Dogs
All guests must be 18+ to attend and though we love your pups, unfortunately cannot have them in the studio!
