Southeast PA Environmental Movement Community (EMC)
Dear Community Watchdogs and Environmental Advocates,
I’m reaching out to invite you to be part of an exciting new initiative that aims to transform the environmental landscape across Pennsylvania and protect the health and wellbeing of Southeast PA communities — the Environmental Movement Community (EMC).
As the Health Advocacy Outreach Coordinator for Physicians for Social Responsibility Pennsylvania (PSR PA), I am honored to support the creation of the EMC — a new, statewide effort to unite community leaders, impacted residents, environmental advocates, and grassroots organizers to build collective power for change. It’s time that we hold the DEP accountable to upholding pollution rules in our state!
We know that across Southeastern Pennsylvania — from Philadelphia to the surrounding counties — environmental challenges are deeply connected to broader issues of public health, environmental justice, and systemic inequality. The EMC provides an opportunity to connect our local fights to a broader statewide movement. You are invited to share your community concerns related to harmful impacts to your air, water, and noise/light pollution you may experience.
Following a successful kickoff of our Northeastern PA Environmental Movement Community (EMC) — where advocates came together to share concerns, ideas, and strategies — we are now building out similar regional spaces across the Commonwealth, including right here in Southeastern PA. Our Environmental Movement Community meetings will follow the PA DEP Districts. One of our goals is to help folks report health and safety issues and keep track of when/how they are resolved. We want to champion your communities’ specific issues - your ideas and needs matter most!
We hope you will join us for our inaugural Southeastern PA Environmental Movement Community:
June 12th, 2025 at 6pm.
Location: Virtual (Zoom registration link above!)
This virtual gathering will be an open space for advocates like you to:
- Share local environmental concerns
- Build relationships with others doing this work
- Help shape a collective vision for environmental advocacy in Southeastern PA
- Learn about the growing statewide EMC network
- Share your efforts and updates with others
Please forward this invite to other folks you think might be interested - all are welcome!
Together, we can build a stronger, more connected environmental movement across Pennsylvania.
In Solidarity,
Josephine Gingerich
