โ€‹About This Event

โ€‹Can you actually trust AI? Why does it hallucinate, and how do you know when you truly understand something versus just recognizing an answer?

โ€‹In the age of AI, the ability to learn independently is the ultimate superpower. This hands-on, interactive workshop isn't a boring lectureโ€”itโ€™s an experimental sandbox where teens learn how to use AI as a thinking partner rather than a shortcut that does the thinking for them.

โ€‹Led by Diego Vera, founder of Self Learners, youth will dive into puzzles, test AI boundaries, and learn how to turn their personal curiosity into real-world projects.

โ€‹

โ€‹โšก What Weโ€™ll Explore & Do

  • โ€‹Can You Trust AI? Learn why AI hallucination happens, how prompts steer answers, and how to spot confident mistakes.

  • โ€‹How Strong Learners Think: Move from easy habits (asking for answers) to strong habits (testing yourself and explaining ideas in your own words).

  • โ€‹AI as a Thinking Partner: Discover how to use AI to challenge your reasoning, simulate scenarios, and get constructive feedback.

  • โ€‹Hands-On Puzzles & Challenges: Tackle brain-teasers (like the probability puzzle that fooled world-class mathematicians) to test your own reasoning.

  • โ€‹From Curiosity to Creation: Break big questions down into smaller steps and turn an interest into a mini project, app, game, or video.

โ€‹๐ŸŽ’ What Youโ€™ll Leave With

  1. โ€‹A clear mental model of what AI can and cannot do safely.

  2. โ€‹A repeatable 7-step method to master difficult subjects independently (You first, AI second).

  3. โ€‹Practical ways to test whether you genuinely understand a concept.

  4. โ€‹A concrete project idea or question to pursue in the Wayfinders program.

  5. โ€‹Greater confidence to take on new challenges on your own.
