About Event

This session breaks down how to build a coherent IP strategy for integrated systems, from sensors and devices to firmware, models, and interfaces. You will understand how to keep your startup in control of its core technology as it grows, avoiding common ownership and licensing pitfalls when working with manufacturers, engineering firms, AI vendors, and external developers.

We’ll also cover:

  • when patents make sense for technical architectures and functional innovations,

  • how copyright protects software and AI models,

  • where design rights can strengthen protection of product form and user interfaces,

  • the role of trade secrets and confidential know-how, especially for datasets, model tuning, embedded optimizations, and manufacturing-sensitive details.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Structure IP protection across the full hardware–software–AI stack

  • Decide what to patent, what to keep as secret know-how, and what copyright covers

  • Secure IP ownership and rights when collaborating with suppliers and R&D partners
