Roundtable: Beyond targets: how do we measure and communicate real-world impact?

​Businesses are no longer judged only on their own emissions.

​Investors, governments and communities want to know how companies are helping the wider economy decarbonise, grow and become more resilient. But today’s targets and reporting tools struggle to capture that.

​Hosted by National Grid and Futerra, this roundtable explores how companies can measure and communicate their wider impact credibly, without slipping into greenwash. That means looking beyond their own footprint to the transition they enable, and to benefits like jobs, energy security, communities and nature.

​The discussion draws on the “spheres of influence” approach (adopted into the current ISO net zero draft standard) and National Grid’s experience as a utility whose biggest contribution sits outside its own emissions.
