Safer Local Talk Online: Tags, Screen Names & Peace Prompts

What would a calmer neighborhood forum look like? We'll look at three ideas in the TownSpeak Ann Arbor pilot: tag-first posts you open only if you choose, up to 10 screen names per account, and labeled peace prompts that nudge heated threads toward a pause. We'll also be clear about limits: peace prompts help people slow down, but they don't judge disputes or replace human moderators, and screen names are pseudonymous, not untraceable.
