Civic Saturday 11/7: "Common Future"
As the dust settles from the election, let's turn our eyes on democracy's horizon at the youth-led Civic Saturday.
No matter what the results are, the next generation is already building a COMMON FUTURE for all of us. This is the theme we will be exploring, featuring stories of young people at the frontlines of advocacy across our city, represented by voices from Mid-City CAN, PANA, and others.
Civic Saturday is a gathering of friends and strangers to connect around the values and practices of being an active citizen, reckon with our shared values, and create new rituals that are joyful and communal. At Civic Saturday we sing, hear poetry, readings and a “civic sermon,” and reflect on how to rehumanize our politics in conversation with each other.
Civic Saturday is sponsored through the OneSD Initiative and the Nonprofit Institute at USD, with support by individual civic leaders and host venues. Grounded in the practices at Citizen University, we gather to help one another live like citizens, broadly defined and expressed in this equation: POWER + CHARACTER = CITIZENSHIP.
