About Event

Now we know what we've long suspected: People really use and rely on their local Facebook groups, Nextdoor neighborhoods, and WhatsApp group chats, but they want so much more from them.

Join Talia Stroud, social media researcher and New_ Public Co-Founder, as she presents new nationwide poll results on how Americans really connect with their neighbors online — and the surprising gaps that deserve more attention.

Talia and her team at The University of Texas at Austin’s Center for Media Engagement worked with research firm SSRS to survey over 2,000 residents across urban, suburban, and historically underserved communities. We finally have the data: local digital spaces matter more than we thought, and so do community stewards, the volunteers who manage and care for these spaces.

New_ Public Co-Director Eli Pariser will join Talia to discuss what these findings mean and how they're informing New_ Public's Local Lab.

Thursday, November 20th | 4-5pm EST / 1-2pm PST

This virtual event is perfect for community builders, local leaders, and anyone working to strengthen neighborhood connections. RSVP to secure your spot.
