About Event

Climate design educators face additional challenges to including climate design into their curriculum. These may include:

  • Institutional regulations about what is allowed to be taught in classrooms

  • A lack of funding to implement climate design projects

  • Simply being unsure about where to even begin

Regardless of which challenges apply to you, we at New Wave want to hear them–the good and the bad. That’s why the New Wave team is inviting you to our first ever Struggles & Successes event where we’ll share insights about teaching climate-focused design. This event is very similar to the one hosted by Climate Designers in September, however, New Wave will focus specifically on educators’ experiences teaching at academic institutions.

During this free virtual event, we’ll give educators the opportunity to introduce themselves and then go into breakout rooms with a digital whiteboard and prompts to help guide conversations.

This is an opportunity to:
🥳 Celebrate what’s working in your classrooms
😫 Share your frustrations about what’s not working
🫱🏼‍🫲🏾 Connect with peers who care about climate action in design education
🤔 Reflect on how we can better support each other

Event Details:
🗓️ Date: Thursday, August 28
🕒 Time: 6-7:30 pm ET
📍 Location: Zoom (Note: this session may be recorded but will not be shared with attendees)

Who Should Join?
Anyone teaching (or hoping to teach) climate and sustainability topics in design, whether you’re just getting started or have years of experience.

If you have questions about the event, please don’t hesitate to reach out at [email protected].
