So you want to make a podcast?
Superbly Done Media presents a 60 minute online masterclass on how to start your own podcast, presented by two of the best presenters and producers in the business.
We’ll be focusing on the audio side of things, guiding you through the ins and outs of how to get to grips with recording, editing and guest selection along with a multitude of tips, tricks and inside info from two BBC broadcast veterans.
Who will be presenting the masterclasses?
First up is Sarah Treanor, who worked at the BBC for 15 years as an Executive Producer and documentary maker on BBC radio 4 and BBC World Service radio. Her credits include Business Editor for the Today programme on Radio 4, Features and Commissioning Editor for Business Daily on the BBC World Service and producer/reporter for The Documentary on the World Service. Sarah has also worked as an Executive Producer for World Bank podcasts, the Whitley Fund for Nature and the Design Museum; so it’s safe to say she knows what will work … and what won’t.
Elizabeth Hotson was a presenter, producer and reporter for BBC radio 4 and the BBC World Service for 18 years. Her presenting and reporting credits include dozens of shows for Business Daily, Business Matters and Weekend on World Service radio. And for Radio 4, Elizabeth has reported for From Our Own Correspondent, You and Yours, The World At One, The World Tonight, PM and the Today Programme. She also produced Hargreaves Lansdown’s Switch Your Money On podcast and was the launch producer for Vogue Magazine’s The Run-Through.
About the masterclass
You’ll get an introduction to the basics of making a podcast. We’ll be focusing on audio, but many of the insights you’ll gain will also be relevant to video.

The principles of storytelling - what you’re aiming to communicate via your podcast and the basics of choosing guests/hosts. We are running specialist masterclasses on these aspects, so if you want to focus on those elements, those would also be great for you.
The podcast toolkit - The ins and outs of the equipment you’ll need, plus tips on using music, editing and mixing.
Getting it out there - We’ll cover the ins and outs of how to get your podcast on to the main platforms including Apple, Spotify etc.
Knowing your audience - We’ll look at who’s listening to podcasts and how and when they’re listening to them.
