About Event

I spend a lot of time living in broken systems. As someone who is a disabled, childless cat lady, who works in public education in Texas, I am at the center of many of the issues screamed about from every screen. Join me for a low stakes generative workshop where we use our "guilty pleasures," like Hallmark movies or teen dramas or Love Island or the people we go to escape like Taylor Swift or Golden Girls re-runs or rewatching the Wire, again as a source of inspiration for our own work.

It's hard to write when our world feels so heavy. Let's make all of the noise and frenzy spark our own stories.

At this workshop, we will do a few quick writing exercises with friendly discussion, voluntary sharing out, and hopefully a few laughs. The exercises were created for poetry, but can be applicable to all genres.

About me: I am an educator and advocate who lives in Austin, TX. My book Whos' Going to Love the Dying Girl was released in 2021 by Unsolicited Press. I hold an MFA from Bennington College.
