Life Design for Creators & Founders
You have ideas. Maybe too many.
You know, roughly, what you want your work and life to look like. But somewhere between ambition and action, something keeps slipping. Maybe analysis paralysis keeps making you feel stuck, as you try to find the one 'perfect' life.
Maybe you've been here before: capable, motivated, and still lacking clarity. Not because you're not working hard enough. Because you haven't yet clearly designed where you're going and the options on how to get there.
This workshop is for that moment.
What this actually is
Life Design for Creators & Founders is a 3-hour, hands-on & phone-free workshop that applies Design Thinking, a methodology originally built for product innovation, to the messier, more personal work of designing a career, business, and life that actually fits the authentic version of you.
This is not another framework to read about and forget. You experience it. In the room, with your actual situation, working through two critical exercises.
You will leave with a map: where you are right now, where you're going, and what you need to get there. Not as a concept. As something written down, reframed, and ready to test.
The agenda
10:00 - Doors open.
Arrive, meet fellow creators, and settle into Absent’s phone-free third space. You’ll place your phone in a lockable pouch, kept with you throughout the workshop. Coffee and food available to purchase from the café.
10:30 - Welcome, introductions, and where you actually are.
We start honest. Not the polished version of your situation, but the real one.
Your facilitator Andreas opens with his own story: internationally awarded filmmaker, multipreneur, CEO of a VC-funded hospitality startup, and what happened when the path he'd been building stopped making sense.
11:00 - Reframing.
The most powerful tool a designer has is the ability to reframe the problem. We practice this together.
You'll identify the assumptions and narratives keeping you in the same loop. Things like "I need to know my one perfect idea before I start" or "I can't make mistakes right now", and learn how to shift the question from "what should I do?" to "what might I test?"
By the end of this exercise, you'll have 1–3 reframed directions worth exploring: a business idea, a project, a next move.
12:00 - Prototyping.
You don't need certainty. You need experiments.
We cover seven tools for prototyping in the context of life and career decisions, and you define the small, low-risk experiments you can run over the next four weeks to test what's actually worth pursuing, before fully committing to any of it.
12:45 - Wrap-up and what's next.
We close together. Andreas stays for an additional hour afterwards for anyone who wants to work through their specific design problem one-on-one.
What you'll leave with
A reframed version of the challenge that's been keeping you stuck.
A clear map of where you are, where you're going, and what you need to get there.
1–3 concrete experiments to run over the next month.
A room of 20 people who are figuring things out too, and know it.
3 uninterrupted hours away from notifications and distractions. A rare space for uninterrupted thinking, reflection, and conversation.
Who this is for
Creators, freelancers, founders, and builders. Expats navigating a new city and a new chapter. People in career transition or sitting on ideas they haven't tested yet. Anyone who's hit a moment of "I know I need to move, I just don't know where."
You don't need to be a creative professional or an active founder to get something real out of this. You need to have genuine questions about what comes next, and be willing to do the work of answering them.
Capacity is capped at 20 people.
☎️ Why Phone-Free?
Most workshops ask for your attention. This one protects it.
For the duration of the event, your phone will be placed in a lockable pouch that stays with you throughout the session. No notifications. No checking Slack. No disappearing into Instagram during breaks.
Just three hours to think deeply about your life, your work, and what comes next.
🗣️ Hear it from previous participants:
"I worked with Andreas during the transition from my role as managing director at a marketing agency to music, a completely new direction and industry. With him, I developed, prototyped, and implemented a habit system to help me stay engaged in business development over the long term.
I found applying the concept of design thinking – which I was already familiar with – to my life exciting. I can definitely recommend working with Andy."

Before you arrive
The Focus Question Exercise - 30 minutes of pre-work.
Before the workshop, you'll draft your focus question. Full instructions are sent after you register.
A focus question isn't a goal or a to-do. It's a living inquiry. Something you carry and return to, letting it quietly shape how you see your choices, your time, and your next move.
About your facilitator, Andreas
Andreas has won international film awards, built companies, raised millions from VC investors - then hit one of those pivotal moments most ambitious people quietly dread: the point where the path ahead looks nothing like the plan. Sound familiar? It doesn't always take a dramatic crisis. Sometimes it's a career transition, a nagging question, or a decent life that no longer quite fits.
His tool of choice - then and now - is Design Thinking. Not as a buzzword, but as a method to reframe problems and turn life's big questions into real, executable options to create the life you want.
Part business wingman, part fellow traveler, he now teaches the same methodology to founders, creators, and people in transition.
