Returning to Sacred Queerness: Two-Spirit Paths of Devotion that Move us from Pain to Purpose
Join this multi-modal workshop with Tihikpas, Two-Spirit elder of the Esselen Tribe in Monterrey, and Nelson González, Founder the The Crossings Collective, to explore safe ways to recover spiritual practice.
Through movement, meditation, ritual, visualization, creative expression, contemplation, and conversation we will explore how Indigenous communities around the world have seen Two Spirit people as sacred, the roles queer people have played in channeling the sacred (Healers, Seers, Keepers of Beauty, Mediators and Counselors, Warriors and Protectors, Ceremonial Leaders and Priests), and how we might develop regular rhythms, rituals, and routines that ground and activate our spiritual energies for service for the needs of this time.
This event is part of the launch of The Crossings Collective, a new not-for-profit effort committed to creating "islands of coherent belonging" that translate the ancient wisdom of world spiritual traditions into practices that are accessible, relevant, and safer for queer people today.
The Collective:
Supports wounded healers to metabolize the traumas perpetrated by the very institutions now collapsing, into sacred power to serve, through consistent engagement with practices given to us by wisdom lineages.
Develops healing journey cartographers: senior practitioners from various lineages able to help sequence, titrate, and integrate these practices in a queer trauma-informed way.
Curates initiatory experiences in local sacred lands with Two Spirit elders from local Indigenous communities, with rigor and respect.
We host:
Bi-weekly workshops exploring how we might develop regular spiritual practices, focussing on a specific practice each session (Heart Lab, San Francisco, every other Wednesday beginning 1 April)
A four-month community of care exploring paths to becoming "wounded healers" by developing a personal "Vow" or "Rule of Life" (Heart Lab, San Francisco + online support)
Initiation experiences involving mentorship by Native elders, medicine wheel sweat lodges, supervised solo wilderness vision quests, and guided integration and application (Carmel Valley and Olema, Fall 2026)
Sacred Land Pilgrimages to Tassajara, Green Gulch, Olema, Big Sur, Pt Reyes, New Mexico, and Colombia.
