About Event

Join sisters Lana and Rula at Local Economy for a two-hour introduction to Tatreez, the traditional embroidery of Palestine. The craft is deeply rooted in their family history: their grandmother, who was born in Jerusalem, practiced Tatreez, and two years ago the sisters began embroidering and selling sweatshirts as a way to honor that tradition and raise funds for Gaza.

The evening begins with a brief presentation on the history of Tatreez and their family’s connection to the craft, followed by hands-on instruction to help participants learn the foundational techniques. Guests will choose from three traditional motifs and spend the remainder of the class working on their own embroidered piece. All materials are provided, and participants will take their supplies home to continue practicing.

Ticket cost: $20 sliding scale

One hundred percent of proceeds will be donated to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.
