In this session, the NEU bring together an expert panel to discuss how progressives can drive back populism by campaigning for a universalist politics.
Hard-right populism thrives on division – universal demands cut through it. From Free School Meals for All to Winter Fuel Allowance, campaigns rooting asks in dignity and respect for all, are mobilising broad support. This session explores what strategies and tactics are working. Together we’ll reflect on how universalism can be a cornerstone of addressing inequality, rebuilding social solidarity and winning big.
