​Energy Hub Tanzania is a platform dedicated to enhancing public understanding of Tanzania's energy sector. In 2026, we launched Powering the Conversation, a monthly webinar series aimed at promoting informed discussion on key energy issues.

​Previous sessions introduced participants to Tanzania's energy access challenges and renewable energy landscape, providing an understanding of the country's energy resources, development priorities, and implementation environment. Building on this foundation, this session turns to one of the most important questions in the sector: how Tanzania's energy sector is financed.

​Delivering universal energy access and expanding modern energy infrastructure requires significant investment. Yet terms such as concessional finance, blended finance, green bonds, and development finance institutions can often seem technical and inaccessible. This session will provide a practical introduction to how Tanzania's energy sector is financed, explaining who provides capital, the financing mechanisms that support different energy investments, and the key financing gaps that remain as well as opportunities.
