At Satish Gujral: The Modernist Returns, the evening unfolded through a guided exhibition walkthrough, followed by a theatrical rendering of Sa'adat Hasan Manto’s Mozelle, enacted by Shashwita Sharma.

Set in Partition-era Bombay, Mozelle inhabits a world fractured by communal violence, where love, desire and identity become acts of defiance. At its heart is a young Jewish woman who refuses to be defined by convention or claimed by anyone. As we celebrate Satish Gujral’s centenary, we look forward to more such encounters across art, literature and performance.
