​How does Portland’s waste system reflect our values of care, community, and sustainability?

​Join Women & Climate Portland for a behind-the-scenes field visit exploring our region's circular economy with Metro’s Master Recycler Program. Together, we’ll tour the Central Transfer Station and Household Hazardous Waste Facility, learn how materials move through our city, and discuss what it means to build a regenerative, circular future rooted in care.

​🧭 What to Expect

• ​Guided tour of Metro’s waste and recycling facilities

• ​Safety gear provided (vests, goggles, and hard hats)

• ​Reflection and conversation on waste, equity, and circular systems

• ​Optional community coffee hangout afterward

​Please wear closed-toe shoes and long pants for safety.☕ After the Tour: Community Coffee at Nossa Família

​After our visit, we’ll gather at Nossa Família Coffee – Lovejoy Café (1633 NW Irving St, Portland, OR 97209) — just a 5–7 minute drive from the transfer station.

​Nossa Família is a Portland-based, carbon-neutral coffee company with deep commitments to sustainability and ethical sourcing, perfectly aligned with our theme of care and circularity.

​This casual coffee hangout is a space to reflect, connect, and continue conversations about how women and community leaders are shaping Portland’s circular economy.
