Empowering Communities for Forest & Climate Action
A one-day training and awareness programme to empower tribal communities for community-based forest management, forest conservation, and climate action.
Approximately 100 tribal Gram Sabha members and community forest management committee representatives in Pendari Village, Wadrafnagar, Balrampur, Chhattisgarh will come together for a one-day training and awareness programme.
The event will focus on strengthening community leadership and participation in the protection, conservation, and sustainable management of community forests. Participants will receive practical orientation on forest protection, plantation and nursery development, maintenance and survival of planted trees, sustainable use of forest resources, and prevention of illegal tree cutting.
The training will also cover the preparation of community forest management plans, activity-based budgets, and proposals for accessing support from relevant government departments and schemes. Participants will be introduced to key legal provisions and community rights related to forest management, with emphasis on the role and responsibilities of Gram Sabhas.
The programme will encourage knowledge sharing, group discussions, and community-led action planning. It aims to strengthen the capacity of tribal communities to protect their forests, improve local biodiversity, enhance climate resilience, and promote sustainable livelihoods. By empowering Gram Sabhas to take informed decisions and engage with government institutions, the event will contribute to long-term, community-led forest conservation and climate action.
