Club dVIN in Montalcino: A Spring Visit to Brunello’s Leading Estates
The ultimate wine journey to the heart of Brunello di Montalcino with Filippo Magnani & Jana Kreilein
Limited to 12 guests
We’re continuing the momentum from our Bhutan journey by opening a new trip for members who want to explore great wine at the source. This spring, Club dVIN hosts a quiet, curated journey into the heart of Montalcino. The trip brings members into leading Brunello estates, with access shaped through long relationships and a shared respect for the region’s craft.
The group travels with Filippo Magnani, a founding member of Club dVIN and Italian Wine Travel Expert. His deep knowledge of Montalcino and his calm way of hosting set the tone for the days ahead. His work lives at Fufluns Wine Travel Concierge (fufluns.com). Jana Kreilein, co-founder of Club dVIN & dVIN Labs, will also be part of the experience 🍷
The trip opens at Col d’Orcia, one of Brunello’s historic houses. We walk the cellars, taste older vintages, and ease into the landscape before settling into Mastrojanni Deluxe Wine Retreat, our home for the trip. The property has a soft, open view of the hills and a quiet rhythm that sets the pace. Dinner on the first evening features Mastrojanni wines and a gentle introduction to the region’s history.
Over the next days, the group explores Montalcino through private visits arranged with care. We travel by chauffeur-driven vintage car, passing through villages and vineyards before arriving at Argiano, where the architecture and gardens frame the tasting. A visit to La Potazzine follows, a high-end boutique winery, with a light lunch and a look into the family’s precise, elegant winemaking.
One evening brings us to the Fortezza of Montalcino, where the group enjoys an aperitif inside the old stone walls. Dinner takes place in the tower with producers from Le Ragnaie and Poggio di Sotto, whose wines express some of the most thoughtful styles in the region. The setting, the bottles, and the conversations create a calm and memorable night.
Another day begins with a hands-on cooking session led by top local chef, followed by lunch at Salicutti, an estate known for its purity and balance. In the afternoon, we visit Sesti, an iconic Brunello estate, shaped by history, astronomy, and a gentle approach to viticulture. The visit ends with a private dinner on the estate and a small medieval parade arranged for our group.
The trip closes with a private transfer back to Pisa. Across these few days, the group shares tastings, meals, and conversations that reflect the character of the region and the club.
