Women Farmers for Earth: Workshop
A community-based workshop empowering women farmers in Jharoda, Najafgarh with practical knowledge on climate-resilient farming, healthy soils, water conservation, organic inputs, and access to government schemes and financial support.
Women Farmers for Earth is a community-based training workshop being organised in Jharoda Village, Najafgarh, Delhi, to strengthen the role of women in climate-resilient and sustainable agriculture. The workshop will focus on practical, low-cost approaches that women farm managers can adopt in their farms and households.
The session will cover key themes including women’s role in climate-resilient farming, soil health and soil organic carbon, water availability and conservation, agroforestry and tree plantation, nutrition and backyard gardening, multiple cropping, composting, Jeevamrit and natural pest repellents. Participants will also be introduced to farmer diaries and crop-wise input-output records, post-harvest management, market linkages, branding and negotiation, along with weather alerts and mobile-based agro-advisories.
A dedicated component will focus on helping women understand relevant government schemes, financial support and institutional resources, with guidance on accessing these opportunities.
The workshop will be conducted through interactive discussions, practical demonstrations and knowledge-sharing with local women farmers. The initiative aims to enable participants to adopt at least three sustainable or climate-resilient practices, strengthen their farm management skills, and build stronger market and support-system linkages.
