About Event

Batteries are crucial to enabling the energy transition, with demand from the energy storage and electric vehicle markets expected to nearly quadruple from 2024 to 2030. While most battery manufacturing today is concentrated in Asia, the United States is rapidly building out the domestic battery supply chain across both lithium-ion and emerging battery technologies.

In the Southeast United States, where much of the battery investment to date has been concentrated, the industry could produce $140 billion in economic output and power 374,000 jobs by 2035—but only with strong state and federal policy support.

The C2ES Regional Clean Economies initiative has convened more than 250 leaders of business, government, academia, and communities across the Southeast region to explore how a secure, resilient, domestic battery supply chain can strengthen U.S. competitiveness while delivering economic benefits to local communities. Join us for a discussion on the opportunities this growing industry presents, and how necessary state and federal policies can help to unlock its full potential.
