A Three-Day Clinical Training with Andrew Tatarsky, PhD & Casey Paleos, MD
We are in the midst of a profound paradigm shift in how we understand addiction. Increasingly, clinicians are moving beyond seeing addiction solely as a disease and toward understanding it as a deeply meaningful human response to suffering—an adaptive attempt to regulate overwhelming emotions, cope with trauma, or survive difficult life circumstances. This shift transforms the therapeutic task: rather than focusing primarily on stopping a behavior, it invites us to focus first on the person, with compassion, curiosity, and deep respect.
Psychedelic-assisted therapy is opening remarkable new possibilities for transformation, but profound experiences alone don't produce lasting change. What matters is how those experiences are prepared for, held, and integrated. Integrative Harm Reduction Psychotherapy (IHRP) offers a relational, trauma-informed, dignity-centered framework that strengthens every phase of psychedelic work. What if the most effective entry point into psychedelic-assisted therapy for addictive and compulsive behaviors isn't abstinence, but honest, compassionate curiosity about why someone uses?
Meet Your Facilitators
Co-hosted by InnerMost, Journey Clinical, and MAPS, this three-day intensive brings together two of the field's most experienced practitioners to explore what becomes possible when harm reduction and psychedelic-assisted therapy weave together.
Andrew Tatarsky, PhD is an internationally renowned addiction therapist, trainer, and psychologist, and developer of IHRP—a framework built over four decades of clinical practice that meets people where they are, centers their autonomy, and treats the root of suffering rather than the behavior.
Casey Paleos, MD is a board-certified psychiatrist, co-founder of InnerMost, a leading psychedelic-assisted therapy researcher and clinician—having served as Principal Investigator and Therapy Supervisor on MAPS' Phase III MDMA trials and as a therapist on NYU's landmark psilocybin study.
Together, they've built a training that is part clinical education, part think tank, for clinicians who are ready to think more carefully and work more skillfully at the intersection of these two frameworks.
Across three days, you will:
Engage with the theoretical foundations and clinical applications of IHRP
Examine where harm reduction and psychedelic-assisted therapy share a philosophical root and what that means in practice
Build skills through demonstration therapy sessions and structured real play
Join a facilitated think tank on the emerging clinical questions at the intersection of IHRP and psychedelic-assisted therapy
Each day weaves together didactic teaching, case-based discussion, small group breakouts, and direct dialogue between Drs. Tatarsky and Paleos on the questions neither framework has fully answered alone.

Our Hosts
InnerMost is a New York City-based psychotherapy clinic and public benefit corporation dedicated to advancing ethical, integrative psychedelic-assisted care. Located in Gramercy, InnerMost provides ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and Spravato alongside clinician training, clinical research, and community programming—all designed to raise the standard of care across the field. InnerMost's clinical philosophy is rooted in the concept of inner healing intelligence: the belief that each person carries an innate capacity for growth, integration, and repair, and that the role of the therapist is to create the conditions in which that capacity can emerge.
Journey Clinical is the leading psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy platform in the US, with the largest network of licensed therapists offering ketamine-assisted psychotherapy. Its collaborative care model connects a dedicated in-house medical team, licensed psychotherapists, and patients—enabling the delivery of high-quality psychedelic-assisted care at scale. Journey Clinical is committed to expanding access to new FDA-approved psychedelic modalities as they become available, and invests in clinical research, outcome monitoring, and provider education to support the responsible growth of the field.
Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit research and educational organization dedicated to developing medical, legal, and cultural contexts for people to benefit from the careful uses of psychedelics. Three pillars guide MAPS' efforts to bring access to psychedelic healing for all who can benefit: advancing research, changing policies, and shaping culture. MAPS funds and supports researchers worldwide to advance collective understanding of the potential applications and risks associated with psychedelics, and has been instrumental in bringing MDMA-assisted therapy through Phase II and Phase III clinical trials. MAPS advocates for the dignity and rights of all people who use drugs, free from fear and stigma, and is committed to transparency, equity, and a long-term vision informed by research.
