Theology on Tap: Eastern Spirituality & Mysticism
"The Church must breathe with her two lungs!"
Pope John Paul II
Join us for an evening of conversation, community, spiritual discovery, and more than a few drinks at Chatti in Chelsea.
This inaugural session of Theology on Tap: Eastern Spirituality & Mysticism explores the rich traditions, wisdom, and beauty of Eastern Christianity.
Our guest speaker, Fr. Joseph Loya, O.S.A., Ph.D., is an Augustinian priest and Associate Professor of Historical Theology at Villanova University. Fr. Joe will share insights from his talk, “Under the Influence: Living within the Eastern Catholic Tradition.”
Drawing on decades of teaching and ministry, and his upbringing in the Byzantine Catholic Church, Fr. Joe invites us to consider how the Eastern Christian spiritual path helps us live more authentically, joyfully, and faithfully in a complex world.
The evening will begin with a social hour at 6:30 PM, followed by the talk at 7:30 PM, with time for discussion afterward.
Enjoy good company, thoughtful conversation, and the opportunity to encounter timeless wisdom made new.
Free to attend — all are welcome!
Especially younger Catholics, Orthodox, Protestants, and anyone curious about the beauty and depth of Eastern Christian spirituality.
Hosted by:
Fr. Marek Visnovsky — Pastor, Cathedral of Saint Michael the Archangel
Christopher Blazey — St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church
