Meet Miriam Margolyes, beloved veteran of the stage and screen, for an exclusive signing session of her brand new book, Miriam's Full English.

You'll be able to meet Miriam and she'll dedicate a copy of her brand new book, Miriam's Full English. In Miriam's Full English, she turns her documentary-maker's eye on her own backyard. After exploring the rest of the world through her much-loved BBC series, she's bringing her trademark wit to get to the heart of what is up with not just England but Scotland, Wales and Ireland too.

Every ticket comes with a hardback copy of Miriam's Full English, which Miriam will sign and dedicate on the day.

About Miriam’s Full English

Miriam Margolyes hates being described as a national treasure with a glittering 60-year career on stage and screen. She describes herself as 'old, fat, gay and soon to be in a wheelchair'.

Her three acclaimed books have together sold over 1.5 million copies and have been accompanied by sellout tours across the UK. Her literary success, which came in her eighties, rests on the fearless honesty and sharp humour which have defined Miriam's entire life. Now, for her new book, Miriam’s Full English, Miriam has turned her unflinching gaze on the British and what makes us tick.

Miriam is English. But she is also Jewish 'and from a criminal immigrant family' - who better to explore the differences between our nations, as well as the common threads.

Being Miriam, of course, her exploration of these islands takes her to some low places - our conflicted attitudes to sex, our pathological grumbling and our questionable food - but she reaches some high places too: this hilarious book is also a study of our true values - tolerance, kindness, freedom and fairness - and a few of our foibles - our love of smut and fart jokes, and our endless talk about the weather.

Miriam's travels across the British Isles have left her contemptuous of the slippery new breed of politician ready to replace all of those values with insularity and greed.

Could it be, she asks, that like a full English breakfast, undoubtedly more than the sum of its parts, the composite nature of Britain - so indulging of eccentricity and difference - is the very thing that will keep us safe from them?

Who better than Miriam Margolyes OBE to reunite our not terribly united Kingdom in one unforgettable book, packed with heroes and villains, jokes and deep insights, surprises and, of course, lashings of sauce. Expect memories & mammaries, politics, filth, and absolutely everything in between.
