Open Atlas Roundtable, Edition 01: PERM on Pause, What Affected Employees Can Do Next
📅 Wednesday, 21st October | 6:00 PM PT
📍 The Hub, Union City, CA
On October 8, the Department of Labor suspended PERM processing for eight major employers: Microsoft, Adobe, and six IT services firms. New applications from these companies won’t be accepted, pending ones are on hold, and no end date has been announced.
If you work at one of these companies, you probably have more questions than answers. Is my H-1B affected? What happens to the case I’ve already started? Should I wait, switch employers, or look at self-petition options? And if you work somewhere else, should you be paying attention too?
Open Atlas Roundtable is our new in-person meetup series, bringing the community together for candid, expert-led conversations in a relaxed setting. For our first edition, we’re joined by [Speaker Name], [Title] at [Firm], to break down what the suspension covers, what it doesn’t, and how to think through your next move.
What we’ll cover
→ What the suspension does and doesn’t affect, including H-1B status and approved I-140s
→ What it means at each stage: not yet filed, PERM pending, PERM certified, I-140 filed or approved
→ Changing employers: what restarts, what carries over, and timing considerations
→ Paths that don’t require PERM, including EB-1A, EB-2 NIW, and O-1
→ H-1B extensions beyond six years and how PERM timing plays in
→ What to watch for in the coming weeks
What to expect
→ A clear, candid fireside conversation on a fast-moving situation
→ Open Q&A, so bring your specific questions
→ Time to connect with others navigating the same uncertainty
→ Snacks, drinks, and good company
Evening flow
→ 6:00 PM | Doors open and networking
→ 6:30 PM | Welcome and fireside conversation
→ 7:10 PM | Open Q&A
→ 7:30 PM | Networking continues
