Pope Leo's Encyclical: AI and the Human Good
Last month, Pope Leo XIV published his first encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas (“Magnificent Humanity”) on safeguarding the human person in the age of AI. It argues that technologists face a pivotal choice: to build technologies that exploit the vulnerable, concentrate power, and flatten our humanity; or to serve individual dignity and the common good.
What happens when a powerful religious institution speaks on one of the most consequential technologies in history? What does it see that Silicon Valley overlooks? And what does it mean, practically, to build with shared moral responsibility to the human good?
Join Kanjun Qiu, Matt Boulos, and Ashley Zhang for a fireside chat, small group discussion, and an evening of spirited exchange. Doors will be open from 5:30pm-6:15pm; the talk will begin at 6:15pm. There will be light bites and libations.
This is the 6th event in The Art of Being Human, a series by Imbue for the shared exploration of human questions in our technological age.
