Real Africa: Everyday Life and the Historical Roots Behind It
Why does a continent so rich in culture, resources, and diversity face the realities it does today?
Join an intimate dinner for 8 people hosted by Jordi, a guide who has spent long periods living and working across Africa. Through first-hand stories and experiences from the ground, he will share what everyday life really looks like in tropical sub-Saharan Africa and the historical forces that shaped its present.
Expect a conversation that goes far beyond what we usually hear about the continent. A chance to understand the complexities, contradictions, and human stories behind a place that, for many who experience it closely, becomes impossible to forget.

Your Host: Jordi Monraba
I'm Jordi, and I live in a small village (Mosqueroles) in the Montseny Massif. I enjoy working as a safari guide in Africa, especially in the tropical rainforests of the Bwindi and Virunga regions, tracking mountain gorillas. I also really like doing all kinds of mountain sports.
The Venue: TAíTU
To fully immerse you in this experience, the dinner will take place at Taitu, an Ethiopian restaurant that offers a deeply authentic and sensory introduction to East African culture.
At Taitu, dining is not just about food but about connection. Meals are shared, eaten with the hands, and unfold slowly around the table, creating a setting that naturally invites conversation. The textures, flavors, and atmosphere have been intentionally chosen to complement the evening, allowing you to step closer into the cultural context of the stories and perspectives that will be shared.
What's in the menu?
Everything will be served to share, in true Ethiopian style, designed to be enjoyed collectively around the table.
A selection of traditional dishes including Alecha Doro, a soft chicken stew seasoned with a house spice blend, Kay Sir, sautéed beetroot and potato with a hint of ginger, and Gomen, Ethiopian-style kale. All served on injera, the iconic sourdough flatbread used to scoop, share, and eat together.
A menu that invites you to slow down, taste, and connect, just as the conversation will.
*Vegetarian menu available too.
