AI can do impressive things. But introducing powerful AI does not automatically lead to better work, better decisions or a stronger organisation.
Bringing AI into your business changes workflows, responsibilities, decision-making and required skills. The organisations that benefit most will not simply automate existing processes – they will make deliberate choices about how work should be redesigned around new capabilities.
In this interactive session, we explore how to design not only AI products, but the work around them. Using a rapidly prototyped AI application as a shared example, we will ask:
What should AI do and what should remain with humans?
How should responsibilities and controls be distributed?
How can we balance short-term efficiency gains against long-term effects on skills, judgement and quality?
And how can we anticipate risks such as overreliance, de-skilling or confirmation fatigue?
Drawing on our long-standing experience in designing digital tools for work, we will combine rapid prototyping and discussion with real-world examples and lessons from the history of automation – including aviation and its decades of experience with human-autopilot collaboration.
Participants will leave with practical questions and methods to challenge their own AI initiatives, identify potential problems early and make more deliberate decisions about human-AI collaboration – starting the very next day.
