The Craft Beer: Visit & Tasting Session
Join us in the heart of Malasaña for an exclusive look inside an urban microbrewery. Experience a guided tour of the tanks followed by a curated tasting of small-batch craft beers.
Beer tastes different when you drink it five meters from where it was fermented. Join us for an immersive journey into the art of urban brewing at Fábrica Excepcional, the hidden production heart of Malasaña.
The Experience We are going straight to the source. This isn't just a bar; it is a collaborative "Brewpub"—a fusion of the iconic Fábrica Maravillas and Cerveza La Sagra. It is an active factory and a social space in one. No intermediaries, no shipping, just fresh craft beer served directly from the tanks.
What We Will Do:
The Insight: We start with the Brewers. They will walk us through the alchemy of water, malt, hops, and yeast, explaining the specific profile of Madrid’s water and how it shapes the beer.
The Explanation: We will take a brief look at the history of beer. Did the Vikings drink beer from horns? How long has beer been consumed? What are the social components of this drink that have made it so popular?
The Tasting: A guided sensory tasting of the brewery’s flagship styles—from crisp Lagers to hop-heavy IPAs—explained by the team that brewed them. Besides a curated selection of Spanish Cheese.
The Social: After the formal tasting, we stay in the brewpub to let the conversation flow as freely as the taps.
The Vibe Industrial-chic, aromatic, and highly social. Perfect for those curious about the "how" and "why" behind their favorite drink.
The Venue: Fabrica Excepcional
Located on Calle de Valverde, Fábrica Excepcional is one of the few places in central Madrid where the distance between production and consumption is measured in centimeters.
Born from a collaboration between the craft pioneers at Cerveza La Sagra and the iconic Fábrica Maravillas, this space is a fully functioning urban microbrewery. The aesthetic is defined by gleaming stainless steel fermenters, exposed piping, and warm wood tones. It is not just a place to drink; it is a working factory where the aromas of malt and hops set the stage for the evening.
Your Host: Blai A. Huete
Guided by Blai A. Huete Historian, Sociologist & PhD Candidate Blai brings a scholar’s perspective to the craft beer experience. Having lived and worked in Ghent and Utrecht—two of Europe’s historic brewing capitals—he possesses a deep understanding of beer culture that goes beyond the label.
He connects the dots between the grain and the glass. Blai will guide us not just through the flavors, but through the fascinating history and sociology behind every sip, ensuring a tasting session that is as intellectual as it is refreshing.
