​Totem will establish two community-based weather monitoring stations in Wayanad to help communities and students track local weather patterns, understand climate change, and strengthen climate resilience and disaster preparedness.

​As part of Climate Week, totem will establish two community-based weather monitoring stations in Wayanad to generate regular, locally relevant weather observations. The stations will record rainfall and temperature, helping communities and students understand local weather patterns and changes over time.

​Each station will be equipped with a manual rain gauge and a minimum–maximum thermometer. Local volunteers/students will be trained to take observations at fixed times, maintain a simple weather register and share the data with IMD, DEOC and DDMA for compilation and analysis.

​The initiative will introduce participants to the importance of long-term local weather data in understanding climate variability, supporting agriculture, strengthening disaster preparedness and developing climate-resilient communities.
