About Event

Vessel brings together thirteen artists in a group exhibition exploring the body and the canvas as forms that gather, hold, and carry experience. Moving between recognizable figuration and complete abstraction, the works locate bodily presence in gesture, memory, ritual, color, repetition, material, and trace.

Curated by Sacha H. Cohen of SABBATIKAL, the exhibition takes inspiration from Ursula K. Le Guin’s 1986 essay, The Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction. Le Guin proposes the container as one of humanity’s earliest cultural technologies and as another shape through which a story might be understood. Rather than moving like a spear toward a single hero or conclusion, a story can gather fragments, gestures, memories, contradictions, and transformations. Vessel extends this proposition to painting, approaching each canvas as a form of testimony and a surface capable of receiving experience and carrying it forward.

Presented at The KINN, Vessel opens with an evening reception on Friday, October 9, 2026, and remains on view through January 16, 2027. The event brings together artists, collectors, and the broader creative community to experience the works within The KINN’s active architectural setting.

Enjoy the evening with a Jazz piano solo set from Aaron Longsleves and drinks available at the bar.
